School letter to parents about reading
All pupils have a reading folder, containing two books and a reading record.
All children will bring home a reading practice book which will be matched to their phonic ability. They will be able to read this fluently and independently.
They will also bring home a sharing book, your child will not be able to read this on their own. This book is for you to both read and enjoy together.
Children are expected to read their book at least three times a week.
Reading Records
Reading records should be written in each time your child reads at home. This helps the year 1 team see the progress that they are making at home. Please use the reading record to communicate any messages regarding reading only.
