Year 5 Summer

This term our topic is Ancient Britain. We will be developing our history skills by identifying key changes from the Stone Age to Iron Age. To do this we will be looking at a variety of sources and artefacts that can tell us about history.

In our Science lessons we will be learning about animals including humans. During this topic we will look at life cycles, habitats and how we grow. We will even be having some visitors in class for a few weeks so we can observe their development.  

In languages we will be learning vocabulary for family members and dates in French.  

We have an exciting project in Design and Technology this term as we will be using wood working tools to create bug houses for the environmental area.

This term PSHE lessons will be focused on choices that can affect our physical and mental health.

PE lessons will focus on athletics and golf.  

Maths this term will start with decimals, percentages and fractions. We will be able to find equivalent decimals, fractions and percentages and apply this skill to problem solving activities.  

We have a wide range of writing opportunities this term starting with poetry linked to The Jabberwocky.

This term we will be reading : Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver and The Girl of Ink and Stars by Kiran Millwood Hargrave.
